Modal Assurance Criterion Window

In any of the Modal Estimator Tasks as well as in the Validate Task it is possible to see the Modal Assurance Criterion (MAC) displayed in a 3D graphical representation:

If you are in the Modal Estimation Task, the window visualize the AutoMAC values between all the modes of the particular estimator.  If you are in the Validate Task it will either be the AutoMAC or possible the CrossMAC between to different sets of estimators.

In case of a Modal Estimation Task you can find the MAC window by going to the Windows drop down list in the Application Task Bar and select the MAC window option.

For two mode shapes the scalar MAC value is defined as:

This value is always lying between 0 (Perpendicular) and 1 (Full Match).

 

Hovering over a specific MAC item (tower) in the MAC window,highlights the selected item as well as the row and column frequencies.

Right Click Context Menu has an option Show Annotations which toggles the row / column frequencies from the view.


In case you need a table view of the MAC values, then you can use the MAC Table button from the toolbar. This will bring up the following MAC view:



The coloring of each cell correspond with the coloring of the MAC 3D view. Returning back to the 3D view can be done with the button MAC 3D from the toolbar.
